Alex Rodriguez and Marc Lore Win Arbitration for Ownership of the Minnesota Timberwolves and Lynx

Congratulations to the Wachtell Lipton trial team on securing a victory on behalf of their clients, Alex Rodriguez and Marc Lore, in their long-running battle for majority control over the NBA’s Minnesota Timberwolves and WNBA’s Lynx franchises.

Glen Taylor, the current franchises’ owner, agreed to sell the teams to Rodriguez and Lore for $1.5 billion in 2022 over three installments. Taylor later attempted to call off the deal claiming that one of the installment purchases was not completed in the timeframe contemplated by the contract. Rodriguez and Lore argued that they followed the contract’s requirements and that Taylor wanted to renege on the deal. A three-person arbitration panel ruled 2-1 in favor of Rodriguez and Lore, setting them on a path to taking majority ownership.

Congratulations to William Savitt, Steve Winter, Randall Jackson, Zachary David, Alyssa Hunt, and Ethan Amaker on the win.

DOAR was proud to assist the trial team with trial preparation and evidence presentation.
